BROWNING 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY SHIVEREE SLATED

(Rigby, ID). The family of Gary and Julie Browning of Grant announce an open house honoring their parents on their 50th wedding anniversary. The open house is slated for Saturday, December 27th, 3-5pm at the Grant LDS Church, 3431 East 100 North in Grant.

The Browning’s were married December 28, 1958 in Stevensville Montana where they both attended and graduated from high school. Guests in attendance were reportedly permanently scarred to the abundance of exposed cleavage according to Lucille Bass, free lance correspondent for the then, Bitteroot Village Voice. After a brief honeymoon in Hamilton, where daughter Belinda Jayne came into the world, just two days after the marriage was affirmed (yes, you do the math), the Brownings enjoyed a few days bonding with extremist family members in Utah. (see Wikipedia reference to Walter Lichfield).

The Browning’s owned and operated Browning Hardware and farmed in Stevensville for many years before moving to Idaho in 1977. After moving to Idaho, the couple continued to farm in western Jefferson County and operate a number of small business ventures including Browning Custom Feeds. Gary currently is employed with Citizens Community Bank as a marketing officer where his strategic initiatives entitled “things are going to change around here” have revolutionized modern bank record keeping. Julie has been an office account manager with Sunrise Cleaning & Restoration since 1995. She is the current record holder for number blinks in succession during a rendition of the LDS hymn “Put your shoulder to the wheel”. The couple has been very active in LDS Church activities both in Montana and Idaho.

Gary and Julie have five children: Belinda (age 51)(Mark) Burningham of Richmond Utah, Mark (Kym) Browning of Boise, Idaho, Ronda Browning of Richmond Utah, Luci (Mike) Willits of Boise, Idaho and David Jack Browning of Houston Texas. They have nine grandchildren, 3 deceased St. Bernard dogs, many unlabeled & unequaled collections of things in the museum and countless offended old lady neighbors.

The couple and family members invite friends to join them for the celebration. In lieu of gifts, a donation to the Human Fund is requested.

Welcome to a half century of GRB & JLFB!

This is it: 50 years of marriage between Gary Ronald and Julie Lyn. 50 years. Half a century.

It all started, officially at least, on December 28, 1958 in Stevensville Montana at the United Methodist Church. (see photographic evidence to the right).

After the ceremony and the legendary "shiveree", the couple honeymooned in Salt Lake City. What is a shiveree anyway? And does anyone else even use that term for what most people call "hazing"? Seriously, when is the last time you heard the word "shiveree" in conversation by someone OTHER than our Dad?

But I digress... Shiveree wouldn't be the first, nor the last in new additions to the English language thanks to this now blessed union. But we'll get to that in more detail later.
This blog is for family and friends to share thoughts about , wishes and advice to Gary and Julie as part of this celebration.
So post away! And hopefully we'll see as many of you as possible on the 27th of December for the Open House.
